All Drinking Water Sources Have Been Shut Down at Davis Elementary
New Rochelle school officials said what was previously an isolated problem may have spread throughout the building.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - All sources of drinking water at the George M. Davis Jr. Elementary School have been turned off and will remain off for the rest of the school year.
That news was sent Monday by Principal Michael Galland to the families whose children attend the school.
The school district has been testing the water system since April after the district decided to test all buildings' water systems when Newark found high lead levels in its schools.

Galland said the decision to shut down the entire drinking water system was “prudent” because consultants are concerned the recent flushing of the system may have affected other areas of the school where previously the problems were isolated.
Bottled water and coolers will be provided throughout the entire building until the end of the school year.
Galland said the district is continuing to work with the state education department and the Westchester County health department to make certain the children and staff are safe.
All the correspondence and tests from the district can be found on the school’s website here.
