Angelo's Heroes — Firefighters Save Unresponsive Toddler: WATCH

Frantic parents came to a New Rochelle fire station with their unresponsive child, and firefighters leapt into action, saving the toddler.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Firefighters from Station 3 in New Rochelle who resuscitated an unresponsive toddler Monday were joined Wednesday at the firehouse on North Avenue by the grateful parents and little 16-month-old Angelo. Parents Amanda Capraro and Matthew Pino, with Angelo and his brother Matthew Jr., expressed their thanks to Lt. Tom Moriarity, Lt. Joe Sinatra and Firefighters Peter Cordaro, Vincent Costa, Billy Colangelo, Frank Gagliardo and Ryan Pascuzzi.

The parents showed up at the firehouse around 7 p.m. Monday and banged on the door until someone opened it.

Moriarity said that all of the men “without hesitation” jumped in and started doing what they had been trained to do to save the toddler.

Mayor Noam Bramson said the city is always proud of the fire department and the work it does every day.

“But never more so than this week,” he said. “Their life-saving help for little Angelo is a good illustration of the professionalism and skill that New Rochelle’s bravest demonstrate every day.”

“I am so grateful that they were here and able to bring him back to life,” Capraro said, tearfully, while holding Angelo.
