Historic Hudson Valley, Westchester County’s largest cultural organization, owns and operates five historic sites in the lower Hudson Valley region — from the New Nation-period estate of Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton to Washington Irving’s Sunnyside in Tarrytown. Visitors admire the intricate stained glass at the Union Church of Pocantico Hills and experience hands-on history at Sleepy Hollow’s Philipsburg Manor.
Are you a good communicator and have a thirst for knowledge and a flair for working with the public? HHV is looking to hire a number of energetic part-time Program Associates to help bring these sites to life for the 300,000 annual visitors who come for daytime tours and special seasonal events.

“HHV is not a stuffy, dusty old historical site, but a thriving, lively, creative organization with educational programming and popular events like no other,” says Associate Director for Education, Margaret Hughes. “We're looking for staff who love what we do and want to share that with visitors from around the world.”
As a Program Associate, your job will be various and active. On any given day or night — candidates must be up for flexible hours and responsibilities! — your duties might entail dressing as an 18th century farmer on a provisioning plantation, or sharing fascinating details about the enduring legend of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. You might interact with a local school group or a tour group from across the country. Perhaps you’ll assist with the events that put HHV on the Halloween-happenings map: from the thrilling and chilling Horseman’s Hollow to the wonder of 10,000 carved pumpkins on display at The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze.
“Working at Historic Hudson Valley lets me use my love of history and be part of the community," says Hal Greenberg, who has been a Program Associate at Sunnyside for 10 years. “I can't think of a better way to spend my day.”
