Bicyclist Critically Injured After Car Strike

Police said both the driver and the bicyclist were under the influence.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A bicyclist in New Rochelle was taken to the hospital with critical injuries Sunday after being struck by a motorist. The crash happened at the corner of Pelham Road and Locust Avenue shortly after midnight.

The 48-year-old man whose name was not released had numerous injuries and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, the Journal News said.

Police said that both the driver of the vehicle and the bicyclist were under the influence at the time, though only the driver was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicle assault.
