Author Susan Kleinman will join our book club for a special conversation about her novel All Afternoon, the inspiration behind it, and the characters and themes that bring the story to life.
Set in a tight-knit Jewish community in 1978, All Afternoon
 follows Marilyn Weisfeld, a once-promising writer who set aside her 
literary dreams for marriage and motherhood. Years later, an old friend 
of her husband comes to dinner. Bestselling author Henry Goldfarb 
remembers Marilyn’s early stories—and he remembers her.
When Henry
 encourages Marilyn to write again, she begins sneaking into Manhattan 
each week to meet with him. As she catches glimpses of the life she 
might have lived, Marilyn must decide how much she is willing to risk to
 reclaim a part of herself she thought she had left behind.

In 1950s Havana, a group of young musicians created a sound that shook the world of Cuban music—until the revolution changed everything. Forty years later, the band got back together to record the songs they left behind and unexpectedly created the greatest-selling world music album of all time. The program features pre-Revolution life in 1950s Cuba, the Son cubano musical artists featured in the 1999 documentary movie, and the Tony and Grammy award winning 2025 Buena Vista Social Club Broadway musical.
