Charging Stations Installed Around New Rochelle
People can power up their small electronic devices using solar energy.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There’s one more reasons to visit New Rochelle. You can charge your cell phone now at various locations around the city.
The city acquired two “Soofa” charging stations with built-in benches and two stand-alone charging stations located next to existing city benches.
People will be able to sit and recharge both themselves and their small electronic devices using a USB cable and solar power.

“This is one part of our broader effort to position New Rochelle as a forward-looking city, ready to complete successfully for the residents and businesses of the future,” said Mayor Noam Bramson.
The charging devices are located at Huguenot Park near the Huguenot Children’s Library, Ruby Dee Park at Library Green and Flower (City) Park. A fourth location will be the new park that will be created at the entrance to the pedestrian bridge at North Avenue and Burling Lane, which will be completed and open in 2016.

Ruby Dee Park is within the downtown area where free Wi-Fi is available.
The benches were funded in part by the City of New Rochelle’s Local Development Corporation.
