The College Application Essay: Ten Survival Tips for Students and Parents

A perfect head start for kids who want food for thought while they're developing an essay topic over the summer

On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, 7:00 – 8:30pm, Freddi Greenberg, Founder, Purple Pen College Essay Advisory will lead a college essay writing information session for students and parents at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale. This overview provides a perfect head start for kids who want food for thought while they're developing an essay topic over the summer. Ms. Greenberg will lead a college essay writing workshop intensive this August at the JCC to guide students in writing their final essays.

In this informational session, Ms. Greenberg will:

· discuss what colleges are looking for in students and their college application essays

· provide professional insights and advice on the Common Application prompts, and how to select the one that best tells a student’s story

· review writing strategies to follow--- AND TO AVOID--- to sound your best on paper

Ms. Greenberg is the former editor-in-chief of Child, American Health for Women and Nick Jr. Family, has completed Harvard’s Summer Admissions Counseling Institute, and is the college essay advisor at East Side Community High School, NYC. Students with whom Ms. Greenberg worked with have gone on to schools including Cornell, Tulane, University of Michigan, Stony Brook, Brown, Skidmore, Connecticut College and Princeton.
