College of New Rochelle Student Honored for Volunteering
The Yonkers resident is the sophomore class vice president.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A College of New Rochelle sophomore was honored for leadership in community service.
Kevona Jackson of Yonkers was chosen by the Commission on Independent College and Universities as one of 10 recipients of a 2016 Independent Sector Student Community Service Award and a $500 H.D. Paley Scholarship in recognition for her efforts on behalf of others.

Jackson is a business major and the vice president of the sophomore class.
She is president of the Black Student Union and has helped raise breast cancer awareness, promoted World AIDS Day and spearheaded initiatives such as Sister to Sister, during which black entrepreneurs gave presentations on launching a business.

Jackson volunteer at Family Services of Yonkers’ Kinship Support Center, which offers programs for grandparents and relatives who are raising children.
