College of New Rochelle Teams with Burke Catholic High for Courses

The initiative is slated to begin in the fall.

The College of New Rochelle and John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, NY, Monday announced a new partnership that will offer “college degree program opportunities to communities in the Orange County area.”

The initiative is slated to begin in the fall with CNR offering a Master’s in Public Administration Program at the high school.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with a fellow Catholic institution through this collaboration that will deliver higher education opportunities to the people of Orange County,” said Judith Huntington, President of The College of New Rochelle, in a statement. “We hope this will be the start of a strong connection between our schools and hope to be able to expand the program offerings to include additional graduate and undergraduate degrees in the future.”

Added John Dolan, Principal of Burke Catholic High School, “We are thankful for this opportunity to expand the reach of our school to serve our broader community in partnership with The College of New Rochelle to help aspiring students attain an advanced degree. This co-sponsored program represents the first of its kind in Orange County,”

The schools will host an information session about the MPA Program at the high school on April 16 at 6 p.m. John S. Burke Catholic High School is located at 80 Fletcher St. in Goshen.

“The Archdiocese of New York is pleased to see this collaboration of two outstanding Catholic institutions which incorporates the unique resources of each to create a new endeavor that will provide advantages to not only the students who attend the program, but the people they ultimately serve as well, “said Dr. Joseph Gerics, Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in the Archdiocese of New York.

The College’s Master’s in Public Administration Program is chaired by Dr. Malcolm Oliver, Assistant Professor, Public Administration. The Program provides the theoretical background, practical experience, and training necessary for a professional career in public service. Its 36-credit multidisciplinary curriculum covers topics of management and leadership, organizational theory, public policy formulation, communications theory, human resource management, budgeting and finance, and program evaluation.
