College of New Rochelle Welcomes New Trustees

NEW ROCHELLE, NY April 15, 2016 – The College of New Rochelle (CNR) announces new appointees to the College’s Board of Trustees: Dolores Castellano King, former CEO and Owner of William J. Hirten Company of New York City, and Anne Marie Nichol Hynes, Esq, President of the Hynes Foundation of Riverside, CT.

On announcing the appointment, Judith Huntington, president of The College of New Rochelle, commented, “We are so pleased to welcome these impressive and accomplished women to our
Board of Trustees. I am confident that they will be great resources for our Board and play an important role in guiding our strategic plan as we continue to transform the College to meet the needs of today’s students.”

Dolores Castellano King
Former CEO and Owner of William J. Hirten Company

Dolores Castellano King is the former CEO and Owner of William J. Hirten Company, one of the largest religious products and church goods suppliers in the world. She entered the family business in 1971 and through her finance and business experience, quadrupled its sales. She was the principal and sole owner of Hirten before selling it in 2008.

King began her career in data processing at Mutual of New York, where she was hired after graduating with a BA in Economics from The College of New Rochelle in 1961. She later went to work at IBM. She then became a stockbroker at several large firms, including McDonald & Co., and Bruns Nordenman, where she was vice president in charge of sales, before joining the Hirten Company started by her father.

A committed alumna, she was an honoree at CNR’s 2012 Trustee Gala, King helped to establish the College’s Golf and Tennis Outing and has served on the CNR Campaign Steering Committee and the Corporate Foundation committee. In addition to her CNR involvement, King has chaired various committees for trade organizations, and on a personal level, remains active in her community, serving as president of both Lords Valley Country Club and her co-op, Connaught Tower Corporation. King currently resides in New York City.

Anne Marie Nichol Hynes, Esq.

Hynes entered the telecommunications field directly after college with a primary focus in corporate planning, in which she utilized mathematical techniques to analyze industry trends. In a mid-career shift addressing her developing interest in women’s issues, she pursued a law degree and currently works in the non-profit sector. Most recently, she has functioned as a pro-bono attorney with the Pace Women’s Justice Center (PWJC), engaged in representing domestic abuse victims.

Prior to her legal work, Hynes was involved in strategic planning functions for two leading public utilities, New York Telephone, a Bell operating company, and GTE. She also held the role of President at the Analysis Group, a consulting firm, and recently became the President of The Hynes Foundation, which has a diverse mission including the support of Catholic education.

Hynes received her BA in Mathematics from The College of New Rochelle in 1971 and a joint MS in Management Science from Polytechnic/NYU University and Pace University, prior to receiving a law degree from Pace University School of Law(’08) and being admitted to both the Connecticut and New York Bars.

Recently, Hynes completed a six-year term as the Vice-Chair of the Board at the Academy of Mount Saint Ursula, an inner city Ursuline school in the Bronx, where she has contributed to the expansion of math opportunities for students. She currently serves as Chair of the Greenwich Choral Society, a semi-professional music organization, and as Audit Chair for River House, a senior Adult Day Care facility in Greenwich, Ct.
