Coronavirus In NY: Rating The State's Response [POLL]
The governor has ordered workers to stay home, businesses to close and more. How is the government doing in response to the new coronavirus?
NEW YORK — No doubt over the past week New Yorkers have seen major disruptions to their lives. First, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he was cutting the non-essential workforce in half, meaning employers had to send at least 50 percent of their workers home.
Then the number was increased to 75 percent, and on Friday, the governor announced that all non-essential workers should stay at home beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Essential services included shipping, media, warehousing, grocery and food production, pharmacies, health care providers, utilities, banks and related financial institutions, and other industries critical to the supply chain.

At a Saturday news conference, Cuomo said that there were more than 10,000 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. He also said that Westchester, which not long ago had the most cases in the state, was at 1,385 cases, up 294 from Friday.
Cuomo said that the rate of increase in Westchester is slowing, which suggested the containment area set up in New Rochelle was helpful.
He also said the number of people tested has grown to more than 45,000, with more than 12,000 tested since yesterday. The increase in the number of tests is in stark contrast to the 200 tests the governor said the New Rochelle mobile testing unit in Glen Island Park would process one week ago on its first day.
Also on Friday, while acknowledging the fact that closing businesses will hurt the economy, Cuomo said he would order all commercial and residential evictions to stop for at least 90 days.
With all this said, how do you think the state has reacted so far to the coronavirus outbreak, especially regarding health and economic concerns?
