
Dr. Kathleen Sprows Cummings is an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Studies, the Associate Director of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism, and holds concurrent appointments in the Department of Theology and the Department of History at the University of Notre Dame. Her most recent book, New Women of the Old Faith: Gender in American Catholicism in the Progressive Era has been widely and very positively reviewed, served as the theme of several panels and was the winner of three 2009 Catholic Press Association Awards. She currently has a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Humanities for works in progress: Citizen Saints: Catholics in American Culture and Catholicism in the American Century, edited with R. Scott Appleby, Cornell University Press. Dr. Cummings holds a doctorate in American History from the University of Notre Dame.
