Flash Flood Warning Issued For Rockland, Southern Westchester

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Rockland and southern Westchester counties Friday. The National Weather Service said the warning is in effect util 4:30 p.m. Friday. At 12:22 p.m., radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area affected by the warning.

Up to 1 inch of rain has already fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

The weather service said a Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
