Food Worker Infected: No New Rochelle School Meals Wednesday

A kitchen worker tested positive for the new coronavirus, New Rochelle's school superintendent said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle school district will not serve meals Wednesday. One of the kitchen workers has tested positive for the new coronavirus, Superintendent Laura Feijoo told the community.

Some food will be distributed by the district's community partners at two main locations, 95 Lincoln WestCOP and 345 Main St. in New Rochelle. They may be able to accommodate some in need, though not be able to feed everyone if there is a surge in demand. If you are in crisis, call WestCOP at 914-636-3050 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"During the se difficult times, the CSDNR has been committed to ensuring access to nutritious and balanced meals for those who depend on us for them," she wrote. "We are extrememly troubled about not being able to provide food for the day. We know that each day food is not served is a day when some will go hungry."

Dr. Feijoo wished the sick staffer a complete and speedy recovery.

Following the rules of the Westchester County Department of Health, all the remaining food that has been prepared in the kitchen will be thrown away. The kitchen will be thoroughly cleaned. New food will be bought.

Also, the kitchen staff will be rotated so that no one who worked there in the past week will come back to work there.
