Hambo Champ Pinkman Heads $580,000 Yonkers Trot at Yonkers Raceway
HAMBLETONIAN CHAMPION PINKMAN HEADS GROUP OF ELEVEN ENTERED IN 61ST YONKERS TROT AT YONKERS RACEWAY
Hambletonian champion Pinkman heads the list of 11 three-year-olds entered in the $580,000 Yonkers Trot, the second jewel in the Trotting Triple Crown, at Yonkers Raceway.
The 61st edition of Yonkers’ Raceway signature trotting event for sophomore colts and geldings starts off with a pair of $40,000 elimination races this Saturday night, August 29th, and the first four finishers in each heat will return for the half million dollar final the following Saturday night, September 5th.
Pinkman will face the challenge of Crazy Wow, the winner of the Dick McGuire Trot and last year’s freshman N.Y.S.S. champ in the first elimination, the evening’s fourth race. Here’s the full field: 1-Buen Camino (Trond Smedshammer), 2-Crazy Wow (Tim Tetrick), 3-Pinkman (Yannick Gingras), 4-Workout Wonder (Dan Dube), 5-Wings of Royalty (Brian Sears).

In the second elimination, carded as the fifth race, six will vie for the four berths to the final: 1-Southwind Mozart (Ake Svandstedt), 2-Centurion ATM (Svanstedt also listed), 3-Billy Flynn (Jason Bartlett), 4-Massive Lightning (Tyler Buter), 5-Habitat (Gingras), 6-French Laundry (Jimmy Takter). Note the two Svanstedt horses in this elimination are uncoupled due to bona fide separate ownership.
Pinkman, Buen Camino and Massive Lightning are the geldings in the group.

Pinkman captured the $1 million Hambletonian on August 22 at the Meadowlands with Brian Sears at the helm, a three-quarter length victory over the late-charging Mission Brief. The Yonkers Trot is the second jewel in the Trotting Triple Crown. The third leg, the Kentucky Futurity, is set for October 10 at the Red Mile in Lexington, KY.
The 60th Messenger Stakes, with eight declarations, becomes a one-dash-for-the-($500,000) cash event, also set for Saturday night, Sept. 5. The entrants, alphabetically, are…Dealt a Winner, Dude’s the Man, In the Arsenal, National Seelster, Revenge Shark, Rock N’ Roll World, Roland in Rock and Rollin’ Ring Afire.
Both stakes serves as the second jewels in their respective gaits Triple Crowns.
This Saturday night also includes two stakes finals for the 3-year-old ladies, the $149,240 Hudson (6th race) and $116,430 Lady Maud (7th race) for trotters and pacers, respectively.
