Historic Mansion Fire Still Smouldering
City officials said the fire that destroyed Wildcliff was under investigation.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — City officials said that the fire which destroyed the historic Wildcliff mansion is still under investigation. They would not call it suspicious.
At a press conference Tuesday morning on the site, officials said said that workers had been at there on Monday, boarding up windows due to reports of trespassers.
The intense fire was still being dealt with Tuesday.

The blaze broke out around 4:20 p.m. Monday at the home located at 44 Wildcliff Road overlooking the Long Island Sound.
Wildcliff was built in the 1850s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. It has been unoccupied for the past several years. It was, in previous years, an arts center.
