Homeless Man Indicted For Murder Of Homeless Woman
Police said he followed the victim for some time before robbing and killing her.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A homeless man living in New Rochelle was indicted and arraigned for the murder of a homeless woman who was living outside the vacant Armory on Main Street. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Jose Olmos, 29, was indicted by a grand jury on the following charges:
- First-degree murder, a felony
- Two counts of second-degree murder, felonies
Olmos was accused of killing Nurten Seljuk on July 27.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 5.

If convicted, Olmos faces a maximum sentence of life without parole.
Prosecutors said, in the early hours of Friday, July 27, Olmos followed Seljuk for some time in the area of Main Street in New Rochelle.

Then, on the property of the vacant Armory at 270 Main St., he robbed her and beat her to death, police said.
Seljuk's body was found later that day.
Olmos was arrested by New Rochelle police one day after the murder.
