Iona College Hosts 'Learning In Retirement' Open House Aug. 30
LIRIC is an educational program for people of retirement age who are interested in intellectual stimulation as well as social interaction.

Iona College will host an open house for its Learning In Retirement at Iona College (LIRIC) program from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, at Spellman Hall, 715 North Ave. in New Rochelle.
LIRIC is an educational program for men and women of retirement age who are interested in intellectual stimulation as well as social interaction. The program offers the opportunity to enhance your knowledge in a variety of subjects and topics. The fall semester runs from Oct. 5, thru Dec. 5.
“Our theme this Fall is India,” the school said in a statement. “Our series of lectures will provide both a broader and deeper look at this country’s traditions, culture and history.”

The Aug. 30 open house begins promptly at 2 pm and refreshments will be served afterwards. Parking is available in the Campus Parking Garage.
New members will have the opportunity to register. Current members can renew their membership, and all can preview the new courses that will be held at Juliano’s Catering and Iona College.

The school added, “Our fall schedule will offer News and Views (current events); a travelogue on India and Nepal; Great Houses of America, Art Workshop; Writing Workshop; Drawing for the Beginning Artist; Play-Reading; Literary Discussion; The Holocaust: Resistance, The Arts, The Heroes; The Melodies Still Linger (Jerome Kern & Irving Berlin); All That Jazz; Speaking Freely: American English from Plymouth Rock to Silicon Valley; The U.S. Constitution; The Physics of History; Film Series: The Black Image in Early Hollywood; iPad for Beginners; Computers Q&A and a series of single mid-week lectures on all sorts of topics!”
