Cross-Country team GPA is 92

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (December 15, 2016) –Iona Prep’s Cross-Country team has earned the coveted Gaffney Award for the Fall season, with a team GPA of 92. The award is presented each season to the team with the highest GPA and is named for Brother Gerard M. Gaffney, the former teacher, school president, and moderator of the hockey, football and baseball programs; Brother Gaffney died in 2008. Of note, the GPA for Iona Prep’s entire group of 224 eligible athletes—including all levels of the fall baseball, football and soccer programs—was 90. The award was established in 2006 and continues to serve as an incentive for students to balance academics and athletics, while striving for excellence in each area.
