Lions To Announce 2018-19 Peace Poster Contest Winners
This year's theme is "Kindness Matters."

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Larchmont Mamaroneck and New Rochelle Lions are partnering with local middle schools for the 2018-19 Lions Peace Poster Contest. The Lions International Peace Poster Contest is an annual worldwide competition for children 11-13, encouraging them to express their vision of world peace through art.
This year’s theme — “Kindness Matters” — is particularly relevant for these times.
The five local partner schools are the Hommocks Middle School, the French American School of New York, Sts. John and Paul, Rye Neck Middle School and Albert Leonard Middle School.

A panel of local art professionals will determine local winners and two runners up from each school. The five winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 8 a special press presentation held at the Larchmont Village Center.
The winning posters will be entered into the Lions District competition on Nov. 11, with their selection entering into the International contest. The 2018-19 International Lions winner and 23 merit awards will be announced at the United Nations March 9.

Last year, over 600,000 entries from all over the world competed, with the winning art entry from China.
The Larchmont Mamaroneck and New Rochelle Lions are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization. LCI is led by its first women president, Gudrun Bjort Yngvadottir from Iceland. She has established the following five causes for the Lions to support this year: Vision, Hunger, Environment, Diabetes and Childhood Cancer. The Lions are also signatories to the United Nations 50/50 by 30 women’s rights campaign and are committee members of the UN’s Refugee crisis team.
