Major Weather Changes Ahead For Hudson Valley

Beginning this week, some big weather changes are moving in and are expected to remain around for awhile in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Sorry, snow lovers, but it's beginning to look quite likely that the Hudson Valley won't see any real accumulating snow through the end of the month, except for one possibility.

"Following a downward slide with temperatures into Tuesday, mild air will bounce back across much of the Northeast later this week," AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Max Vido says.

By Thursday, we could see temperatures approach the mid-50s degrees in the southern part of the region.

"Another batch of chilly air will invade the region from later Friday into Saturday," Vido says. "However, the cold air will not last more than a day or two. By early next week, temperatures are likely to be on the upswing."

There is a chance for snow in the early hours of Sunday, with moderate accumulation possible, but the temperatures will rebound into the mid-40s and then keep climbing into early next week.

Now, of course, long-range forecasting is far from a science. In fact, just last week, AccuWeather said the Hudson Valley could see snow well into April.

But we are certainly creeping closer to spring with fewer chances for real snow in sight.

"Could we get a shot for snow in the first half of March?" Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News, wrote on his website Monday. "Of course we could but it is becoming increasingly clear that everything will have to line up perfectly in the upper atmosphere for something to happen. The odds each day grow longer and longer."
