Responding officers found the man close to the store, walking along Lincoln Avenue, near North Avenue.
While officers were placing the man under arrest, he physically resisted, according to police. Police said in a statement released late Tuesday evening that the man then grabbed an officer's gun and attempted to remove the weapon from the holster. The body cam footage appears to back up the assertion.

The body cam footage shows the man ignored attempts by police to talk to him, initially walking away from officers. When officers tried to place him under arrest, a scuffle ensued. One officer can be heard calling for the use of a taser, but moments later, a male officer can be heard shouting, "He's got a gun. He's got a gun."

At least one of the officers shot the man who has not yet been identified by police.
The wounded man was taken to the hospital, but his current condition was not released by police.
The New York State Police and New York State Attorney General Letitia James' Office are leading the investigation into the incident, according to the New Rochelle Police Department who said that no further information will be released by the department at this time.
