MILITARY BLUE PROVIDES FIFTH OF JULY FIREWORKS AT YONKERS RACEWAY, PAYS WHOPPING $229 TO WIN

The appropriately-named Military Blue was a bomb bursting in air, as in the Yonkers Raceway tote board, when Mark MacDonald drove the 113-1 longshot to victory on the Tuesday (July 5) matinee program.
The four-year-old Lucky Chucky gelding returned a whopping $229.50 win mutuel for a $2 wager as a July Fifth firework explosion in the afternoon’s $25,000 sixth race trot at Empire City Casino's historic half mile oval.
Coming from far back, Military Blue defeated the pace-setting, odds-on favorite Capt. Serious, driven by Scott Zeron by a two length margin, and stopped the clock in 1:57.1 for the winning mile. Lindylicious with George Brennan in the bike was third.
