Judith Huntington, president of the College of New Rochelle, said Roberts has excelled in her profession while demonstrating strength, perseverance and courage when faced with personal health challenges.
Roberts fought blood and bone marrow disease and subsequently received a bone marrow transplant.
“She has used these experiences to help others in significant ways, and we are honored to recognize her as a role model who reflects the college’s values of both professional achievement and service to others,” Huntington said.
LeVaca is a registered nurse and has served as a board trustee for over 14 years. She has served as chairwoman since 2013, and will step down after the Commencement.
College officials said that under LeVaca's leadership the college has received over $15 million in federal and state grants, developed a shared-services collaboration with Marist College in Poughkeepsie and expanded the School of Nursing to include programs in the health professions to address the critical workforce needs in the field.
