New Emergency Announcement From Mamaroneck
On Friday evening, Mamaroneck officials issued a new update on the continuing crisis related to the remnants of Ida.

MAMARONECK, NY — Mamaroneck officials have issued an updated briefing on the ongoing emergency in the village.
As of September 3, 2021, at 6:00PM, the Village of Mamaroneck has the following announcements:
- The New York State Department of Financial Services will have representatives available to meet with residents beginning tomorrow, Saturday, September 4, from 9am to 5pm at the Village Courthouse at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue. These representatives can provide residents and business owners impacted by the storm with insurance information regarding policy coverage for losses and suggestions on how to document their losses.
- We anticipate all pump outs that were requested yesterday and today to be completed by the end of the day tomorrow, Saturday, September 4th. Department of Public Works crews can assist Village residents to clear out flood waters in excess of 6-inches. (Unfortunately, these pumps will not work on flood waters that are less than 6-inches in depth.) You can email your request to pumpout@vomny.org with your name, address, and contact number. Or you can call the Village Manager’s Office at (914) 777-7703 so we can include you on our list and review the actions you will need to take to make your property safe. Whether sending an email or leaving a voicemail message, please leave your name, address, and contact number.
- If you need to talk with someone from the Village Manager, Clerk/Treasurer or Building Department, Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue will be open tomorrow, Saturday, September 4, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Please wear a mask, follow social distancing, and hold your conversation in the vestibule.
- Close to 120 vehicles were abandoned along Village streets during the storm. Many of these abandoned cars were towed to Vincent’s Garage at 636 Fenimore Road. If your car was towed, contact Vincent’s at (914) 698-5252. If you have a disabled vehicle parked along Village streets, it will need to be moved by Tuesday, September 14 – otherwise it will be towed at your expense.
- For residents of the Avalon, Sheldrake, and Sweetwater apartment complexes, temporary parking is available at the Jefferson Avenue lot and the Hunter Tier Lot on Prospect Avenue for the next two weeks until Friday, September 17. If you live in these apartment complexes and need a temporary parking permit, you can email your request to IdaParking@vomny.org with your vehicle plate number, vehicle make and color. Completed permits can be emailed to you for printing at home or you can pick the permit up at Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue.
- ConEd projects full restoration in our Village by tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 4. With that in mind, Village building inspectors “RED TAGGED” a number of buildings since the storm. If your electrical system was impacted by flooding, please open your residence’s main breaker switch for an electrician to inspect. Prior to energizing any building, a licensed electrician may need to make necessary repairs. For a building’s “RED TAG” status to be removed, the building owner must (1) receive approval from a licensed private electrician and (2) obtain a certification letter from the Village. Our building inspectors can provide lists of electricians and the Village has waived the permit fee to expedite this process. The Village’s Building Department will be open tomorrow, Saturday, September 4, from 8:00am to 5:00pm at Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue or can be contacted at (914) 777-7731.
- Over the coming days, there will be rolling street closures along the streets in the Washingtonville neighborhood to address trash and debris pickup. Please DO NOT dispose of propane tanks at the curb with your debris.Residents can dispose of propane tanks at the Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility (at 15 Woods Road in Valhalla.
- 300 requests for Flood Clean Up Kits were received today. The Village of Mamaroneck has ordered Flood Clean Up Kits from the Red Cross and the Salvation Army to distribute to Village property owners who were severely impacted by flooding. These kits provide industrial grade cleaning supplies and other tools to help remove water and silt and to prevent mold and mildew. Again, if you require assistance to pump out flood waters or need a kit, again, please contact the Village Manager’s Office at (914) 777-7703.
- The shelter at Mamaroneck High School remains open and Red Cross volunteers are on site to aid residents. The shelter anticipates closing either this Saturday or Sunday.
- Harbor Island Park will tentatively open tomorrow, Saturday, September 4 at noon. However, Johnston Beach will remain CLOSED. The Beach gate is locked, swimming is prohibited, and the Spray Ground is closed.
- Our thanks to everyone in the community and especially the Coalition for the Community for organizing today’s massive donation drive at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 4, the Jefferson Avenue Parking Lot will be closed to cars so that these donated items can be distributed.
