New Film Series Kicks Off on October 16 at New Rochelle Public Library

The New Rochelle Public Library is kicking off a new film series called “New Rochelle Plays Hollywood” on Sunday, October 16, 2022, 2:00 pm in the Ossie Davis Theater at the New Rochelle Public Library. The theme of the series is Films of New York and will kick off with a screening of the 1948 film, The Naked City.

The series will continue on Sundays, 2:00 pm with Love with a Proper Stranger, November 13; Edge of the City, December 11; and The Crowd (1928) January 8. Each session will open with comments on the history of the film and its creative personnel, with a discussion period following the screening.

“We are thrilled to bring this new film series to the community”, said Tom Geoffino, Library Director “Our host, Les Srager, is a true film aficionado who brings a breadth of knowledge about classic films to this program. I think everyone, from casual moviegoers to film buffs will enjoy this program and find it very engaging. We look forward to welcoming our regular patrons, as well as new attendees from both our growing downtown area and the community at large to enjoy these Sundays at the movies”, commented Geoffino.

Les Srager is a retired attorney and former host of “Fairfield Plays Hollywood” at the Fairfield Public Library, author of “The Screening Room”, a newspaper column in the Westport News, and host of the radio program, “In the Screening Room.”
