New Rochelle Armory Agreement Ends

Good Profit did not send a check or the signed letter of agreement.

Looks like another developer will have to be found for the adaptive reuse of the New Rochelle Armory.

Good Profit did not comply with the city's request for a signed letter of agreement or a check to set the partnership in motion.

A statement was released Thursday afternoon by City Manager Charles B. Strome, III:

As of close of business today, we did not receive a check or signed Letter of Agreement from Good Profit and as a result of the direction provided by City Council  the City’s agreement with Good Profit has ended.

The City Council will determine at a later date how to move forward on this portion of the Echo Bay Waterfront Redevelopment Project.

Good Profit had proposed turning the Armory into a food market hall that would feature local goods and produce. The group was chosen over the Save the Armory Committee proposal for a performing arts center.

Plans for the Armory were to be part of the larger Echo Bay development by Forest City Residential, whose draft environmental impact statement will be the subject of a public hearing March 12.
