New Rochelle Diner Construction Continues

The new diner will be in the vicinity of where the Thru-way Diner was located.

Work is proceeding at the Weyman Avenue site of a new diner in New Rochelle.

Crews were seen Friday moving earth behind the chain link fence surrounding one of the parcels that will be joined to create the new business. Pedestrian need to exercise caution in the area because the sidewalks are now closed.

DeRaffele Manufacturing purchased two city lots between Main Street and Nardozzi Place off Weyman Avenue for $600,000 for the purpose of building and operating a diner.

The City Council abandoned the curved roadway connecting Main Street and Nardozzi Place and sold it to DeRaffele.

DeRaffele plans to join the two now-separated lots in order to create enough contiguous land for the diner and parking.

Crews are preparing for the addition of a traffic lane on Weyman Avenue from Main Street to Nardozzi Place. The developer will pay for all improvements.

Development officials said the additional lane is necessary to accommodate additional traffic due to elimination of the curved connector roadway.
