New Rochelle Man Enters Plea In Ossining Robbery

He was convicted recently of assault and is facing a 50-count indictment relating to a murder in Mount Vernon.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle man, who was recently convicted of assault and is facing a 50-count indictment in connection with a murder in Mount Vernon, pleaded guilty Monday, March 19 to first-degree robbery, a felony. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said that Sincere Smith, 22, admitted his guilt in the robbery that took place Feb. 12, 2017, in the Village of Ossining.

The New Rochelle resident is scheduled to be sentenced June 13, 2018, and faces up to 25 years in prison. Smith is currently in custody in Westchester County awaiting sentencing.

Earlier, Smith was convicted of second-degree assault, a felony, Feb. 28, 2018, after a weeklong trial regarding an incident May 13, 2017, at a Main Street New Rochelle barber shop where he and another man pistol whipped a victim. On Feb. 2, 2018, Smith’s co-defendant, Philip Sutton, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault or the same incident. Sutton admitted to acting in concert with Smith.

Smith is also charged along with co-defendants Eric Lee, Allen Copeland and Leroy Garcia with the murder of Trevon Boswell in Mount Vernon which took place during a 12-hour violent crime spree that occurred May 22, 2017. Smith faces up to 25 years to life in prison if he is convicted on this 50-count indictment which is currently pending. He is scheduled to appear in court for that indictment April 12, 2018.
