New Rochelle Police Commissioner to Receive National Honor

The award honors people who have distinguished themselves within their ethnic group.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - New Rochelle’s police commissioner will be receiving an award from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations at a ceremony May 7.

Commissioner Patrick Carroll was chosen to be one of 91 people who will be getting the 2016 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, according to lohud.com.

The coalition said on its website the medal of honor celebrates Americans who have “distinguished themselves within their own ethnic groups while exemplifying the values of the American way of life.”

Previously recipients include U.S. presidents and Nobel Prize winners.
