The new Web site holds information about the workings of the board and offers advice on how to preserve historic homes.

Then head over to the new New Rochelle city Website for the Historical and Landmarks Review Board.

The site shows how the review board operates and has relevant information for owners of historic properties. It also showcases properties that have received historic designations on the national, regional and local levels.

HLRB Chairman Mel Beacher said the site should be helpful and interesting to residents of New Rochelle.

"The site contains a wealth of information for those who are looking for information on New Rochelle's extensive historically significant resources, as well as how best to preserve them," he said.

The board's technical consultant—Jean Friedman—gathered the content and worked with the board and city historian to create the subsite through Civic Plus, the city's Web site provider.

The Web site was funded by a state grant received in 2010 through the Certified Local Government Program, through which municipalities receive technical support and training on historic preservation issues.

The Historical and Landmarks Review Board has seven members, and was first appointed by the City Council in 1985. The board recommends the designation of historic districts and landmarks and reviews exterior renovations and new construction in the local historic district and for local landmarks.
