New Rochelle Recycling Pickup Changes After Wrong Calendar Sent
An amended pickup schedule will be in place for now and the city will send new calendars to homeowners later this month.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A calendar mix-up caused some confusion about when to bring mixed-recycling to the curb for pickup in New Rochelle.
The recycling calendar changed for the new year — unfortunately, the calendar mailed to homes in New Rochelle mistakenly gave some wrong information. The schedule lists an incorrect rotation of paper and commingled recycling pickup.
To help mitigate the error, the city's department of public works has made a few changes to the January pickup schedule to make sure everyone is taken care of:

- This week is a double week due to the holiday on Monday, so paper recycling and garbage will be picked up in the North End on Thursday and the South End on Friday.
- For the following two weeks, commingled recycling will be picked up citywide.
- The alternating schedule will resume on Wednesday, January 25, starting with paper pickup.
A replacement calendar will be included in the city newsletter and mailed to all homes later this month. In the meantime, the DPW schedule can be accessed online here.
