
New Rochelle voters today will decide on whether the city’s Board of Education should issue $50 million in bonds for school repairs and upgrades.
The capital budget bond vote is scheduled to take place until polls close at 9 p.m. this evening.
If approved, the bonds will cover the cost of the following projects, according to school district officials:

- Roofing repair/replacement: $23,958,753
- Window replacement: $9,449,548
- Masonry repair & reconstruction: $9,385,325
- ADA improvements/updates: $2,096,930
- Electrical upgrades: $1,875,773
- Door replacement (exterior): $1,793,374
- Other building code update requirements: $565,478
- Plumbing upgrades: $403,913
Total Proposed Bond Amount: $49,529,094.

“No tax increase is anticipated as a result of this bond,” officials wrote in a statement. “Funding the bond without an increase in taxes is possible because large portions of existing debt are being paid off beginning next year. The specific terms of the general obligation bond, including detailed obligations for payment, will be carefully reviewed by professional bond counsel to ensure the most advantageous financing for the district.”
