UPDATE: Police Said 13-Year-Old Is Suspect in New Rochelle Stabbing

The victim's injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

UPDATE—Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 11 a.m.: New Rochelle police released more information on the Wednesday morning stabbing of a student on Centre Avenue near Isaac E. Young Middle School.

Officers responded to the area around 8:23 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy who appeared to have been stabbed in the torso.

The boy was treated by emergency medical personnel and taken to a hospital.

Police said his injuries appeared to not be life-threatening.

A 13-year-old male is a suspect in the incident and is in custody while the investigation is ongoing.

The weapon has not been recovered, police said.

The stabbing occurred away from the school, as the children were walking to school, and not on the grounds of the school.

Because of their ages, the names of the children will not be released, police said.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information relevant to the investigation is urged to call the New Rochelle Police Department’s Youth Office at 914-654-2318.

A New Rochelle student was stabbed Wednesday morning and the school is on lockout, lohud.com said.

The incident happened at Isaac Young Middle School around 8:20 a.m.

NBCNewYork.com said the boy was stabbed in the stomach and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for minor injuries.

The other boy who was involved was taken into custody about an hour later.
