Timothy Clark of New Rochelle Wins Award From Volunteer New York!
“There is no cookie cutter model for helping a person in crisis. Society’s problems are solved one person at a time,” says Timothy Clark of New Rochelle, NY. For years, he and his friends would travel weekly into the South Bronx to provide sandwiches, blankets and toiletries to help the homeless. Clark’s outlook changed when while loading his car, prior to his weekly routine in the alley behind New Covenant Church in New Rochelle, a homeless man walked by him. A pivotal moment in his life led him to create Isaiah’s Room, a weekly food program for the homeless and needy in New Rochelle. What began as a Christmas Eve dinner for 16 people is now an organization that serves 80 to 100 meals each Saturday night since 2007.
After 10 years of the initiation of Isaiah’s Room, Clark is being honored at Volunteer New York!’s 37th Annual Volunteer Spirit Awards breakfast benefit. The event will take place Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY from 8-10:00am.
