New Supermarket Opens Wednesday in New Rochelle
Key Food Superstore has taken over the old A&P store on Pelham Road.
A new supermarket will open its doors at 10 a.m. Wednesday on Pelham Road.
The first-ever Key Food Superstore, according to a press release, is opening at 366 Pelham Road. It's a 33,000 square foot store combining a Key Food Supermarket with an Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace.
“We’re really excited to open our Key Food Superstore in New Rochelle, and also to introduce all our Uncle Giuseppe’s homemade food to Westchester,” said Philip Del Prete, President and CEO of Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace.

Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace is a Long Island-based chain of family owned gourmet Italian supermarkets.
The store has created more than 125 permanent local jobs and is in the building that previously housed the .

The supermarket will feature meat, deli, produce and fish departments, along with a bakery and sushi bar.
Key Food, established in 1937, is a 120-store chain of supermarkets in and around New York. Uncle Giuseppe’s has five locations on Long Island and was founded in 1998 by brothers Philip, Carl and Joseph Del Prete and operating partner Thomas Barresi.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 10 a.m. There will be singing, clowns and face painting for the kids.
Competition for shoppers may be heating up in the near future. The closest store to the new Key Food Superstore— at 430 Pelham Rd.—is changing its name to Foodtown. It appears listed as such on the Foodtown Web site, but no signs have been changed.
