Nine is Fine, 11 is Heaven for Hot Horses at Yonkers Raceway

Sell A Bit N, Ideal Cowboy and Red Hot Herbie all win at Yonkers Raceway

Favorites Sell A Bit N., driven by Jordan Stratton, and Ideal Cowboy, with Jason Bartlett in the bike, each scored their ninth wins of the year in the featured $40,000 Open Pace Handicaps at Yonkers Raceway to wrap up last week.

On Sunday, long shot Red Hot Herbie and Dan Dube lit up the tote board, engineering the upset Sunday afternoon to take the $40,400 Open Handicap Trot. Despite the longshot odds, it was Herbie’s 11th win of the season and three of his last four.

For Sell A Bit N, who continued her distaff derby dominance on Friday night, it was her fourth consecutive victory. The 5-year-old Down Under daughter of Julius Caesar is owned by Harry von Knoblauch and trained by Peter Tritton.

Ideal Cowboy, Saturday’s feature winner, is a 4-year-old American Ideal gelding trained by Jeffrey Bamond Jr. for co-owners Bamond Racing and J&T Silva Stables.

Red Hot Herbie is a 5-year-old Here Comes Herbie gelding co-owned (as Allard Racing) by (trainer) Rene Allard, Albert P Abdala III, Bruce A Soulsby and Michael Reppucci.

Sunday props to Allard and driver Brian Sears, who each won four races (including a pair in tandem).
