NRPD Detective Charged With Looting Autism Charity He Co-Founded
Investigators said the retired policeman stole $25K from the charity named after his own son with international ties.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A former New Rochelle police detective is accused of spending charity funds for personal purposes, according to a new indictment.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Tuesday that a co-founder of Christopher’s Voice, Inc., a New Rochelle-based charity for autistic children, has been arraigned on a felony charge of stealing approximately $24,000 from the not-for-profit organization and spending the money for his own personal purposes.
In addition to providing support for autistic children and their families, the charity which has inspired similar initiatives around the globe, also provides life-saving equipment to help keep those who might be prone to wandering into dangerous situations safe as well as training law enforcement in best practices in assisting vulnerable members of the community.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Renee Hassel of the Public Integrity and Law Enforcement Integrity Bureau in the Trials and Investigations Division.
