Park Free Downtown December + New Train Station Holiday Market
New Rochelle will continue the annual tradition of waiving parking in most municipal lots, plus a new reason to go to the train station.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — This is the time of year when the parking Grinch's heart grows three sizes and downtown shoppers find there is one less hassle to deal with.
Continuing an annual tradition intended to promote holiday shopping downtown, New Rochelle is once again offering two hours of free holiday parking in certain municipal lots every day in December from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Off-street parking fees will be waived at municipal surface lots controlled by muni-meters. This includes lots at City Hall, Lawn Avenue, the library, the library South lot, North Avenue at Thruway, Prospect Street and Union Avenue.
Though covered from the elements, covered parking garages are not covered by the free parking largess — the exception being two hours of free parking on the rooftop deck of the New Rochelle Transit Center Garage for shoppers at the new Holiday Market at the New Rochelle Train Station. Free parking at the transit center will only be offered during the hours when the holiday market is open from December 3, through 12.

The market will take place in a special winter village inside the New Rochelle train station complex.
Each day between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., there will be more than just holiday shopping on tap. Swag bag giveaways, food samples, DJs, local choirs, performers and entertainment for kids will keep the market as festive as the season.

There will also be free master classes on everything from wreath making to mixology. The market pays special attention to minority- and women-owned businesses and provides them with a venue to showcase their crafts, products, and wares, according to organizers.
