Patch Picks: Summer Camps

A variety of local summer camps and programs.

Despite the lingering chill in the air, the warm weather will be upon us soon enough, and what a better time to register the kids for summer camp before all those spaces fill up!

Here are some of our suggestions for local summer camps and programs around New Rochelle and lower Westchester.

1. Mount Tom Day Camp - Since 1955, Mount Tom Day Camp in New Rochelle has provided athletic and cultural activities for children between the ages of 3-13 in a "warm, encouraging and nurturing" environment.

2. Camp Echo Bay - A co-ed recreational day camp for children ages 4 -14, Camp Echo Bay is set on a 19-acre wooded campus on the Long Island Sound in New Rochelle. The camp offers a diverse range of activities, along with special field trips.

3. Camp Hillard - Located in nearby Scarsdale, Camp Hillard is Westchester’s first day camp. A comprehensive variety of activities are offered to suit just about any interest for children ages 3-13.

4. Circus Arts Camp - A professional day camp for kids ages 7 and up, located at the Upper School campus of Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in Hartsdale.  At Circus Arts Camp, your child has the opportunity to release their inner clown or learn aerial arts and trapeze, acrobatics, juggling, and much more. For more than twenty years, this camp has been “dedicated to teaching children how to be creative, confident, and safe, while ensuring lots of fun.”

5. Future Stars Summer Camp - Located on the campus of Purchase College, Future Stars Summer Camp offers many different specialty camps that all have a specific focus.

6. Camp Applause - Geared toward kids with an interest in theatrical arts, Camp Applause in Mamaroneck offers week long sessions for children ages 3-5 years and kids in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

7. Rye Arts Center - Although it’s not exactly a day camp, Rye Arts Center is offering many week long programs for kids ages 4 through 13.
