Produce Selection Grows at Friday New Rochelle Farmers Market

Local corn, peaches and tomatoes are coming into season.



Selection of produce continues to increase at the Huguenot Farmers Market on Fridays in New Rochelle.

Amy Gardiner, the market host for Down to Earth Markets, said that field tomatoes, peaches, celery and corn is showing up in the vendors' offerings.

She said she was going to do a demonstration of how to make a purslane salad, but she gave back to the vendor she had taken it from because they had sold out and he needed to sell it.

The market Friday also featured entertainment with Briarcliff resident Phil Dollard performing blues, folk and rock tunes. Dollard is an English teacher at New Rochelle High School.

The Friday market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is located at Huguenot Park/Twin Lakes on North Avenue near the high school.
