Robbery Suspect Shot By Victim In New Rochelle: Police

Police are trying to locate a second suspect who fled the scene.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — One suspect in a robbery in New Rochelle was shot allegedly by the person whose apartment he was trying rob. New Rochelle Police Department said they received a call around 12:49 a.m. Monday about a robbery in a basement apartment at 759 Main St. and that one of the suspects had been shot.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found tenant Nicholas Collado, 21, in his apartment along with three other individuals including the robbery suspect Darius Rogers, 21, police said.

Rogers was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the hand, police said, and a second male robbery suspect had fled the scene.

The investigation found that Rogers, armed with a handgun, and second man entered the apartment intending to commit a robbery, police said.

Narcotics were found in the apartment, according to authorities.

During the course of the robbery, Rogers was shot in the hand by Collado, police said.

Rogers was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police he is facing charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Collado was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both felonies.

Another person who was in the apartment, Brittany Lebron, was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Investigators are attempting to identify and locate the second robbery suspect. A search warrant has been obtained.

Additional charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.
