Watch Stranger Rescue Man From Burning Car In Aurora
This harrowing police video shows a man rescuing a crash victim from a vehicle engulfed in flames in Aurora.
AURORA, IL — A quick-thinking neighbor saved the life of a young man after his car burst into flames as the result of a one-car crash in Aurora Saturday. Dash cam video captures the harrowing moment Jose Martinez, 58, ran from his home and pulled the 34-year-old Warrenville man from his vehicle as flames engulfed the driver's side.
Police said Martinez, who lives across the street from the scene of the crash in the 1600 block of E. New York St., rushed to the rescue when he saw the crash take place just after midnight. In the video, you can see Martinez pulling the victim from the car. Another bystander, Devin Johnson, 29, then comes to assist further as Aurora police rush toward the vehicle.
According to police, the driver, who was treated for burns and other injuries that were not life-threatening, was charged with a DUI in connection with the crash.

Aurora Police praised Martinez's life-saving actions in a post on Facebook, writing, "To say Jose's actions were heroic and brave are an understatement. Had he not taken immediate action, the driver would not have lived. Devin should also be commended for assuring the man was out of harm’s way. Outstanding job, gentlemen."
