No Really, This Guy Was Being Followed By A Pig

Police figured the man was drunk. Then they got there — and saw the pig.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH — Strangest thing: A man calls police at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and tells them, "I'm being followed by a pig and I don't know what to do." At that time of day, the North Ridgeville Police just figured the caller was walking home from what was likely a bar and most likely drunk.

"He was at least drunk enough to call the police on himself while hallucinating," the department said on Facebook. Boy, were they in for a surprise.

"Upon arrival, [officers] found a very sober male walking eastbound on Center Ridge near Maddock Rd. from the actual Amtrak train station in Elyria, not the bar. Oh, and he was being followed by a pig," police said in the Facebook post. An actual, oinking pig.

A patrolman had to wrangle the pig into a police cruiser and bring it back to the station. (OK, go ahead and laugh: a pig in a cop car.) The North Ridgeville cops saw the irony, too.

"Anyone that thinks they’re funny is actually unoriginal and trying too hard," police quipped on Facebook.

The animal was placed in the department's dog kennels for safe keeping. Within three hours, the pig's owner had come to pick his animal up.

This was the second wacky animal call the North Ridgeville Police Department has handled in three years. In 2015, officers had to corral a kangaroo — yes, an actual kangaroo — that had gotten loose near Lorain Road. Imagine seeing that on the drive home.
