Showers and Thunderstorms Possible in Southern Westchester's Weekend Forecast

The weekend's not going to be a complete washout, and the sun will be present at times, but it appears that if you have outdoor plans, Sunday is the better of the two days.

Actually, if you’re not working today, then Friday is the best weather day by far. There will be plenty of sun on Friday and only a slight chance of an isolated storm.

Saturday’s forecast seems to be the dreariest as there is a chance for some showers and storms throughout the day and evening hours, and the chance for rain and storms lessens somewhat on Sunday.

Here is the forecast for the weekend for southern Westchester from the National Weather Service:

• Today: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind 7 to 9 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
• Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 9pm and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between noon and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 6 to 10 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.
