Slain Iona College Student's Funeral Set, GoFundMe Page Activated to Offset Expenses

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Funeral services have been set for the Iona College student gunned down in a New Rochelle park April 3.

A viewing will be held for Yonkers resident Brandon Lawrence at 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, according to lohud.com.

A service will follow at 7 p.m at Yonkers Central Church of God, 21 Hudson St.

His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Stivenson Desir, 19, was accused of shooting Lawrence, 19, in Lincoln Park after a brawl on the baseball field.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help offset the funeral expenses for Lawrence’s mother Sharon Lawrence.

Organizer Donovan Mais wrote on the page that his mother did not ask for the contribution site.

“But we can’t sit back and let her go through this alone,” he wrote. “I am asking you all to help support this mother, so that she does not have to feel the financial burden while dealing with the loss of her child.”

As of late Monday afternoon, more than $4,300 had been contributed.
