Take A Day Off To Volunteer This Summer

Tell your boss Volunteer New York! told you that taking a day off to give back to your community is important (it's good for you too!)

This week the employees of Volunteer New York! took some time off from helping to connect volunteers and volunteered themselves to be Summer Reading Buddies as part of the JCY-Westchester Community Partners summer youth literacy program at the Yonkers Riverfront Library.

Joining Volunteer New York! were also several members of RSVP of Westchester, a program which has enrolled more than 900 Westchester volunteers who are over the age of 55 and who stay active volunteering throughout the year! Recent studies have shown that being a volunteer not only keeps our bodies healthy as we age, but it's also really good for happiness and mental health as well.

It’s not too late to sign up to be a Summer Reading Buddy, visit volunteernewyork.org to register now (and take a day off work if you have too and enjoy a great summer day of giving back in your community!).
