NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The "Crowd" came through for students and local community service organizations during a marathon fundraising push.

On Monday, the Ursuline School kicked off a 25-hour crowdfunding event with the goal of raising $125,000 to benefit students, HOPE and CSA Food Pantries with a school rally and community watch parties. The efforts certainly paid off because the school announced Wednesday that they ended up raising a record-breaking $157,287, significantly higher than their original goal.

The amount raised surpassed the results of all prior years. School representatives also said it demonstrated the impact of many small gifts adding up, as well as Ursuline's commitment to community service.

The school extended its gratitude to all of the donors. They said the "Crowd" was made up of alumnae, parents of current students and of alumnae, grandparents, trustees, students, faculty, staff, relatives and friends of Ursuline. Donors were not just from the local area. They came from 33 U.S. states, 55 colleges, Scotland, Taiwan and Germany.

"We are so grateful for your generosity," President of The Ursuline School Colleen Melnyk said. "Your donations allow us to enhance the educational experience of every Ursuline student and live our mission of Serviam. Thank you so much for joining the crowd."

The school is posting personalized "Shout Outs" and is continuously updating them. School officials also added that 8 of 14 challenges have been met in their "Action Center" with the possibility open to complete more challenges.

Ursuline officials singled out the Class of '78 who made sandwiches for HOPE Community Services, the students who made calls during the phone-a-thons and assisted at the reception, the TUS Film Club and Ms. Billyou who produced the video about HOPE, for special thanks.

If you didn't get a chance to donate during the fundraiser, it's not too late. Just go to the Ursuline's donation site.
