Vote for Westchester's Top Tap Water Today

Go to 148 Martine Ave. in White Plains today, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. to sample tap water from 10 suppliers, then vote for Westchester's best water

Water works from around the county will pour on the charm -- along with their freshest tap water -- as they compete for the chance to be named Westchester’s best water during the Westchester County Department of Health’s annual tap water competition today in White Plains.

Stop by, sample them all and vote for your favorite to select the people’s choice. This year’s blind taste test, hosted as part of National Drinking Water Week, will be held in front of the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If it rains, the taste test will take place at the same time and place tomorrow.

“We are lucky in Westchester to have so many top-notch water suppliers,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “Work up a thirst and try them all.”

The 10 participating water suppliers in this year’s competition are: Bedford Consolidated Water District, Village of Briarcliff Manor, Cortlandt Consolidated Water District, Village of Elmsford, Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1, Village of Scarsdale, United Water Westchester Rate District 1, City of Mount Vernon, City of Yonkers and the defending 2014 champion, the City of White Plains.

“This is a fun way to remind residents of the excellent quality of our tap water,” said Sherlita Amler, MD, commissioner of health. “It also gives us a chance to recognize the local, county and state professionals who monitor our public water systems and ensure all our drinking water is safe.”
