Westchester County Veterans Museum Unveils New 'Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear' Exhibit
The museum's new display features authentic military artifacts and interactive screens spanning 250 years.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A new exhibit at the Westchester County Veterans Museum at historic Lasdon Public Gardens is now open, offering visitors a close look at how military equipment changed over 250 years.
“Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear” features authentic artifacts and interactive displays at the museum, which is located within Lasdon Public Gardens and Veterans Memorial at 2610 NY Route 35.
The exhibit explores the transformation of military equipment and technology across 250 years of service and sacrifice. Items on view include boots, headgear, uniforms, camouflage, firearms, dog tags, communications equipment, medical supplies, haversacks and field rations. Interactive touch-screen components are also key part of the remarkable exhibit.

"This exhibit brings history to life in a meaningful and memorable way," County Executive Ken Jenkins said. "By showcasing the equipment and personal items used by generations of service members, the museum helps visitors better understand the sacrifices, innovation and resilience that have shaped our nation’s military history."
Acting Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Peter said the museum remains an educational resource for the community.

"The Westchester County Veterans Museum continues to be an important educational resource for our community," Tartaglia explained. "This new exhibit offers a fascinating and interactive experience that will inspire curiosity, spark conversation and deepen appreciation for the men and women who served our country."
Director of the Veterans Service Agency Joshua Gaccione said the exhibit connects multiple eras of military service through the items on display.
"Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear bridges the gap between generations, allowing interactive access into the tangible items servicemembers carried into battle from the hope for liberty in the Revolution to the conflicts of the twenty-first century," Gaccione said.
The exhibit was designed to inspire curiosity and encourage learning for students, families, veterans and history enthusiasts. Admission to the museum is free, though donations are accepted to support educational programming and preservation efforts.
Museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is also open on Memorial Day and Labor Day.
